Picture blog entry
Well, I attempted to post some more pictures yesterday, but the gallery site (where you can see ALL Kaufman family pictures that are available), was not cooperating with me.
I finally got everything working and have uploaded all the Elaina pictures I have. Here are a few (click on “Picture Gallery” to see all of them).
Elaina’s Birthday Suit
Moving out of the delivery room to the post-partum rooms:
All snuggly on the last day in hospital:
The perfect picture for a Meriter Birthing Center (which was great by the way):
There’s the smile:
Elaina and “the world’s best dad” (can’t wait to get my shirt and mug):
The new improved family – packed and ready to go home:

First things first – Lindsay is doing well.
Lindsay certainly has a knack for bringing all the on duty staff into whatever room we are in. She woke up at 4:00am, feeling light headed, and the bed was soaked with blood.
The nurses came in first to get things started, start giving her fluids and assess the situation, then the on call OBs were called, and who knows how many more came in.
After the initial scare, and more pain that childbirth (Lindsay’s words, not mine). All I can say is that Lindsay didn’t make a peep during labor, but was not as quiet during the almost 1 hour rush to figure out what was wrong and treat what ended up being a giant blood clot – keeping her uterus from “clamping down”.
All is good now and Lindsay is feeding Elaina, although she has a difficult time keeping her eyes open. Continue reading
Introducing Elaina June Kaufman
Well, our new bundle of joy (and sleepiness), now has a name. We chose Elaina June Kaufman.
I guess, making this announcement pretty much makes it final unless we want to deal with a lot more questions than are already expected.

Mom and Child are resting comfortably.
After about 18 hours of labor, Lindsay started pushing. After the 4 hour pushing marathon, mother and baby are doing wonderfully. We are still seeing which name she looks like, so for now it is Baby Kaufman.
Mom is feeding baby, then she is going to get cleaned up and then will need some well deserved rest.
Preparing to Push
We are getting ready to push!!!! Hopefully all done soon! Continue reading
Waiting to push
The baby is dropping, but not quite in position. She is facing sideways, so that is slowing everything down.
It looks like we are almost there!!! I will post pictures asap (I think there is “babymail” too, but Lindsay set all that up and I don’t know much about it).
Everyone loves pictures:

Yeah – Progress!!
Well, we still aren’t to “pushing” yet; however, Lindsay is almost ready, the baby is almost in position, and her cervix is almost complete.
So, all in all, we are ALMOST there. Hopefully we will meet our baby g irl soon. I will avoid any wild guessing as to time.

8 1/2 Centimeters
We are letting the contractions do the work. Since Lindsay is comfortable with the epidural, the contractions will get the baby in a better position and reduce the amount of pushing necessary.
Baby and mommy are doing great (on heart rate monitor). We are getting a bit impatient to meet the baby, but all is going well.

Lindsay is getting some sleep
With the epidural in, Lindsay is able to get some sleep while her body does some work for her. She will need some energy after being up for over 30 hours and in labor for 15.
Looks like things are going well, and hopefully we will be able to a new member of our family in a couple of hours or less.
I am going to take a nap, or order lunch … not sure yet.
